What are the odds for the Orange men's basketball program to win a title next April?
The men's college basketball season officially ended on Monday night as Michigan defeated UConn 69-63 in the national title game. Now that the 2025-2026 season has come to a close, sports books have already posted their future odds on which schools could win next year's championship.
And how do they feel about the Syracuse men's basketball team and its chances to cut down the nets next April?
Well, it would be quite a stunning turnaround after the program went 15-17 this past season, but hey, Michigan was just 8-24 two seasons ago...
Syracuse odds to win national championship
According to FanDuel, Syracuse is 250-1 to win the the 2027 national title. If you were to place a wager on Syracuse for $100 you would profit $25,000.
The Orange have won just one national title in the program's history. In 2003, led by recent Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Carmelo Anthony and newly hired Coach Gerry McNamara, they defeated Kansas 81-78 in the title game. Tuesday was the 23-year anniversary of that title.
FanDuel listed Duke as the favorite at 8-1 with Michigan listed at 12-1.
The next few months for Syracuse basketball
The transfer portal is now open for Syracuse to begin adding players to its roster. As we covered earlier this week, the Orange have had players both enter and leave the program already.
There's a chance that Syracuse will need to replace its entire starting lineup from a season ago, so McNamara and his new staff will have plenty of work ahead of them in rebuilding the roster.
Along with the roster movement, Syracuse will begin adding teams to its schedule. We already knew that SU will take on Providence College at TD Garden in Boston, but the date and time of that game is still to be determined.
In March, it was confirmed that Syracuse will play Indiana in a non-conference game on Nov. 9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The recently Orange added Niagara as a preseason opponent for October.
It was announced in April that the school would not return to the Players Era Festival again this fall.
