The highly-coveted New York State prospect has announced when he will announce his college decision.
Fran Brown and his Syracuse football staff will have to wait until at least early July to find out the intentions of one of top recruiting targets in the Class of 2027.
Canisius High School (Buffalo, N.Y.) running back Elijah Kimble will make his decision on July 3. He announced that date on his social media channels. Kimble is the No. 1 ranked prospect in New York State.

Background on Kimble
Nicknamed "The Ticket," Kimble has been on Syracuse football's radar since the start of the year. In three seasons playing high school football in Western New York, the three-star recruit has rushed for over 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns, along with having a yards per carry average nearing nine.

Running backs de-committing because of Kimble?
It is possible that the focus on Kimble has become stronger over the past month because of recent news involving two now-former Syracuse running back recruits.
Xavier Bala, a running back from St. Anthony's in Long Island committed to the Orange in early May. One month later, Bala flipped his decision and announced his intentions to sign with Boston College.
Since Jan. 24, Pennsylvania high school running back Sa'Nir Brooks had been a commitment to Syracuse. Brooks, a 5-foot-11 running back, was one of the earliest commitments that Brown had received for the Class of 2027. Brooks is scheduled to play for St. Frances Academy in Maryland this upcoming season before getting to a college program in 2027.
But Brooks took to X on June 9 to announce he had re-opened his recruiting process and would not sign with Syracuse. Brooks has received offers from North Carolina and Delaware since his announcement.
If not Syracuse, then what other school for Kimble?
Orange fans are hopeful Kimble spends his college football career in Central New York, but if Syracuse is not the choice, it's possible the defending champion Indiana Hoosiers are his selection. Kimble visited Bloomington in May and shared the images from his time on campus via X.
As for the Orange in 2026?
Syracuse will open its season on Sept. 5 against New Hampshire at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange went 3-9 last season, but figure to be in better shape in the new campaign.
