Fran Brown's Class of 2027 continues to change with the latest news.

After a few recent successes on the recruiting trail, head coach Fran Brown and his Syracuse Orange football staff may have lost two commits from the Class of 2027 in a span of 24 hours this week.

Here's the latest on what you need to know about the Orange, who are working to improve their future outlook after a 3-9 season a year ago.

Sa'Nir Brooks

Since Jan. 24, Brooks had been a commitment to Syracuse. Brooks, a 5-foot-11 running from Pennsylvania was one of the earliest commitments that Brown had received. Brooks is scheduled to play for St. Frances Academy in Maryland this upcoming season before getting to a college program in 2027.

On Tuesday evening, Brooks to the social media and offered his statement.

"I am no longer committed to Syracuse. Recruitment open. These are my numbers from May 28th Pro Day."

There is no word on what caused Brooks to re-open his recruiting. Brooks is likely to start visiting interested schools throughout the summer.

Xavier Bala

The other departure is Long Island-based running back Xavier Bala. On May 3, Bala took to social media to announce his intentions to play for Syracuse.

However this week, Boston College reporter Graham Dietz noted that Bala had removed all mentions of Syracuse on his X account.

Bala visited Boston College this past weekend, despite already saying he would play for Syracuse once his career at St. Anthony's ended this fall.

He announced his commitment to BC on Wednesday.

What player other players have decommitted from Syracuse?

Earlier this month, we focused in on the change of tight end Michael Nnabuife's commitment. Nnabuife and Brooks are teammates, marking two St. Frances Academy prospects deciding to pass on the Orange program.

The 6-foot-5 Nnabuife switched his decision from Syracuse to Alabama. The Crimson Tide hosted Nnabuife on a recruiting visit following his announcement that he would sign with Syracuse. The visit influenced Nnabuife enough to change his intentions for his college future.

Class of 2027 update

Regardless of the potential losses here, Syracuse still maintains 17 total players committed to the school. Our own Brady Farkas shared the coverage of Jamel Griffin, a defensive back from the state of Alabama also joining the class.

Players in the class of 2027, both committing to FBS and FCS programs, still have until Dec. 2, 2026 to officially sign a letter of intent to a school. Players are also given a second deadline of Feb. 3, 2027 to make their decision official.
