The roster continues to take shape for next month's event as the Orange alumni team grows.

Orange fans will see another former Syracuse basketball player take the hardwood next month in the TBT Tournament. Eric Devendorf has been added to this year's roster for the event, per an announcement made earlier this week.

Devendorf's past and present at Syracuse

Devendorf played four seasons in Central New York. The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 14.5 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals for his career. Devendorf was a part of the 2005-06 squad that won the BIG EAST conference championship just a few years after the team won the national championship in 2003.

A Bay City, Mich. native, Devendorf was a highly-coveted recruit coming out of high school at Oak Hill Academy.

Although he originally committed to Michigan State, Devendorf famously flipped his commitment to Syracuse and joined the Orange.

Since his playing career ended, Devendorf has taken on multiple roles. From 2016-18 Devendorf served as the assistant strength coach on the Syracuse basketball staff. The following season, he joined the Detroit Mercy staff in 2018 as a special assistant. After leaving the collegiate coaching ranks, Devendorf has transitioned into broadcasting. For the past several seasons, he has served as a color commentator for ESPN's college basketball television coverage.

Devendorf has played on Boeheim's Army for multiple iterations of the TBT, including the championship team in 2021.

Why he joined the roster

Speaking on ESPN Syracuse this week, Devendorf spoke about the competitive spirit that takes over when he gets asked to play again.

TBT information and new 2026 format

According to the event's website, The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is:

"..a high-energy single elimination tournament that culminates in a $2 million, winner-take-all championship game.

Since tipping off in 2014, TBT has showcased alumni teams from many of the nation’s top programs, including Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, Louisville, Syracuse, Ohio State, Houston, and 2025 Champions, Wichita State. Year after year, the tournament reunites some of college basketball’s biggest stars and fan favorites, bringing them back to campus to compete in front of the same passionate crowds that cheered them on during their college careers. "

After having 61 teams in 2025, 'TBT' will feature only 16 teams, with eight alumni teams and eight non-alumni teams competing on two separate sides of a bracket.

The alumni bracket will take place on college campuses across the country.

The eight alumni teams will be matched up in best-of-three series, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will be single-elimination.

Boeheim's Army scheduled games and roster so far

Syracuse will play the Seton Hall alumni team in the first round best-of-three, with Game 1 being held in the Walsh Gymnasium, home of the Pirates.  This series will take place from July 21-24.

If Syracuse wins the series, they will advance to take on the Kentucky-Louisville alumni matchup winner. The game between Syracuse and Kentucky-Louisville would be a single elimination held on July 26.

Devendorf joins four other confirmed players including Wes Johnson, Elijah Hughes, Buddy Boeheim, Jimmy Boeheim.
