FORT WORTH - On Sunday inside Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, No. 12 TCU proved exactly why it’s sitting on top of the Big 12 standings.
Down 13 points midway through the fourth quarter, the Horned Frogs looked dead in the water against a tough Iowa State squad. Then Olivia Miles decided the game was over, just not the way the Cyclones expected.
Miles exploded for 17 of her 26 points in the final period, finishing with a jaw-dropping triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to drag TCU to an 80-73 victory.
The senior guard authored one of the most electric closing stretches in program history, personally fueling a 25-4 avalanche that flipped a 66-53 deficit into a 78-70 lead in just over seven minutes.
Miles now owns five triple-doubles this season, tying historic single-season marks alongside Caitlin Clark. She continues to build one of the most decorated statistical bodies of work in NCAA women’s basketball and strengthened her grip on the Big 12 record book.
But this wasn’t a solo act. Marta Suarez powered inside for 19 points and 10 rebounds, dominating the glass in the second half. Clara Silva chipped in 11 points, while Taylor Bigby drilled three massive 3-pointers - none bigger than her fourth-quarter dagger that ignited a 14-0 run and sent the home crowd into chaos.
TCU shot a blistering 57 percent in the fourth quarter and controlled the boards late, finishing with a 46-41 rebounding edge.
The Frogs also protected the basketball at an elite level, dishing 15 assists against just four turnovers - a championship-caliber stat line in crunch time.
Defensively, Kennedy Basham helped neutralize Iowa State star Audi Crooks down the stretch, limiting her impact before she fouled out in the final minutes.
Basham added four blocks in a critical bench performance.
The win pushes TCU to 25-4 overall and 13-3 in Big 12 play, keeping the Horned Frogs alone in first place with two games remaining.
It also extends the nation’s longest home winning streak to 41 games.
If Sunday proved anything, it’s that when Olivia Miles takes over, TCU doesn’t just win. It takes control of the Big 12 race.
