With Paolo Banchero sidelined, Orlando turns to the former TCU standout’s lethal perimeter shooting and veteran playmaking to sustain their playoff momentum during a critical offensive transition.

The Orlando Magic will need Desmond Bane to take on a larger role with Paolo Banchero sidelined by an injury. For a team with playoff aspirations, losing one of its most important players creates a significant challenge, but it also gives Bane an opportunity to show just how valuable he can be to Orlando's offense.

Banchero suffered a low-grade right high-ankle sprain against the Minnesota Timberwolves  on October 23, and it will keep him off the court for 4-6 weeks, and then he will be re-evaluated.

In the meantime, the former Horned Frog will need to step up to make the Magic stay afloat.

Bane arrived in Orlando with expectations of helping the Magic take the next step as a contender. His shooting ability, physicality, and experience make him an important piece of the team's plans, especially when the offense needs someone capable of creating scoring opportunities. With Banchero unavailable, those responsibilities become even more important.

Banchero is one of Orlando's primary offensive engines, capable of scoring from multiple areas of the floor while creating opportunities for his teammates. His absence leaves a considerable hole in the lineup, forcing the Magic to find different ways to generate consistent offense. Bane will likely be among the players expected to help fill that void.

The former TCU standout has the scoring ability to make a difference, particularly with his perimeter shooting. Bane can punish defenses that give him too much space, and his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc could help Orlando maintain its offensive production. However, his responsibilities may extend beyond simply making more three-pointers.

Without Banchero, Bane could be asked to handle the ball more frequently, attack defensive mismatches and create shots when the offense struggles to find its rhythm. That added responsibility will require him to balance his own scoring opportunities with getting his teammates involved.

Bane's experience should also be valuable during this stretch. During his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Bane would frequently be on the court without Ja Morant, the team's superstar. And when he was off the floor, Bane was the primary ball-handler, and he did so very well.

Of course, Bane cannot be expected to replace everything Banchero brings to the floor. Orlando will need contributions from across the roster, with multiple players stepping up to compensate for the missing production. Still, Bane's offensive skill set makes him one of the most logical candidates to shoulder a larger share of the workload.

For TCU fans following Bane's NBA career, this represents another opportunity for the former Horned Frog to demonstrate his impact at the highest level. With Banchero out, Orlando needs Bane to deliver, and how he responds could play a major role in determining whether the Magic can remain competitive until their star forward returns.
