TCU baseball returns home needing a series win over UCF as Sawyer Strosnider, Cole Cramer, and the Horned Frogs try to reset the Big 12 race.

FORT WORTH - TCU baseball is back in Fort Worth, and this weekend feels bigger than a random March series.

The Horned Frogs need a response, not just a win. After a bumpy road trip and an up-and-down start to Big 12 play, Kirk Saarloos’ club gets a chance to steady itself at Lupton Stadium against a UCF team that’s arriving with confidence and a little edge.

That makes this one dangerous.

TCU enters the weekend at 12-8 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 play, still searching for its first conference series win. The Frogs showed some life in the midweek comeback against New Mexico State, and the spark came from the bats of Sawyer Strosnider and Cole Cramer.

Those two were absolute chaos for opposing pitching, combining for seven hits and 11 RBIs. Strosnider was especially loud, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and looking every bit like the kind of hitter who can carry a lineup for a weekend.

Now the challenge gets real again. UCF rolled into league play and immediately made noise with a sweep of Oklahoma State, proving this isn’t a team showing up just to fill out the schedule.

The Knights can pitch, and that starts with Matt Sauser, who has been ridiculous. The right-hander owns a 0.56 ERA over 25.0 innings, with 20 strikeouts, only four walks, and opponents hitting just .120 against him.

That’s ace-level stuff, and it gives UCF a major weapon in a road series.

At the plate, the Knights have enough firepower to make pitchers sweat. John Smith III is hitting .413, while Austin Jacobs and Zak Skinner are both north of .350. Andrew Williamson adds real thump with a team-best four home runs and 16 RBIs.

For TCU, the formula is simple ... protect home field, get length from the pitching staff, and keep the offense attacking. The Frogs are 8-1 at home, and Lupton Stadium has a chance to be a real factor with a huge sports weekend buzzing across campus.

This series won’t define the season, but it can absolutely change the mood. For TCU baseball, that’s reason enough to treat it like a big one.
