Top-60 point guard Kaylor Buse committed to TCU over South Carolina, Oregon, Washington and Utah, giving Mark Campbell another major recruiting victory.
TCU women’s basketball coach Mark Campbell has added another major piece to the Horned Frogs’ future, landing a commitment from 2027 point guard Kaylor Buse.
The 5-9 guard from West Linn High School in Oregon chose TCU over South Carolina, Oregon, Washington and Utah, giving the Horned Frogs a nationally ranked prospect with the skill set to impact both ends of the floor.
Buse is ranked No. 52 nationally in ESPN’s 2027 class and has built a strong resume in Oregon.
She helped West Linn capture its first state championship and earned first-team all-state honors as both a sophomore and junior.
Last season, she averaged 15.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. SI
Her relationship with Campbell appears to have been a major factor in the decision.
“I’m looking for somewhere I can be for four years and build relationships with people that feel like family,” Buse said during the recruiting process.
That fit matters for a TCU program that has become one of the fastest-rising teams in women’s college basketball.
Campbell inherited a team that went 8-23 before his arrival.
Since then, the Horned Frogs have won back-to-back Big 12 regular-season championships and reached consecutive Elite Eights.
TCU finished the 2025-26 season 32-6 and No. 6 nationally after falling to South Carolina in the NCAA regional final.
The program’s growth has also changed the way TCU recruits.
Instead of relying only on transfers and short-term roster construction, Campbell is now pulling high-level high school players away from programs with deep national pedigrees. Buse choosing TCU over South Carolina and Oregon is another sign of that shift.
TCU’s success under Campbell has been difficult to ignore. Since the start of the 2023-24 season, the Horned Frogs have led the Big 12 in total wins and winning percentage while producing five WNBA draft picks.
Buse now gives TCU a potential long-term answer at point guard.
She can score, create for teammates, rebound well for her position and defend at a high level. Her three straight league Defensive Player of the Year awards underline the two-way value she could eventually bring to Fort Worth.
For Campbell, this commitment carries significance beyond one player.
TCU has already proven it can win championships and make deep NCAA Tournament runs. Landing Buse shows the Horned Frogs are increasingly able to recruit nationally at the same level they’ve been competing on the floor.
