FORT WORTH - TCU women’s basketball didn’t just open the NCAA Tournament with a win on Friday; the Horned Frogs made an absolute statement.
Powered by Olivia Miles and a relentless all-around attack, TCU crushed UC San Diego 86-40 in Fort Worth and now sits one victory away from reaching the Sweet 16 for the second straight season.
For a program that waited years to get back on this stage, the Horned Frogs suddenly look very comfortable owning it.
Miles posted the 12th triple-double of her career with 12 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists, and she controlled the game from the opening minutes.
TCU came out flying, and Miles made sure the offense had rhythm right away, creating early looks and setting the tone with her pace and aggression. By halftime, she already had a double-double and the game felt nearly over.
That’s what makes this TCU team dangerous in March. It’s not just one scorer getting hot. It’s waves.
Taylor Bigby delivered one of the best shooting performances of her career, scoring 27 points while burying seven 3-pointers.
Clara Silva added 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Marta Suarez chipped in 11 points with 10 boards of her own.
The Horned Frogs also kept their home dominance intact, stretching their winning streak in Fort Worth to 43 straight games.
That number says plenty about what Mark Campbell has built, but Friday’s game added another layer. This wasn’t just a solid tournament performance; this was a statement that TCU expects to be playing deep into March again.
UC San Diego never truly recovered from TCU’s early burst, and once the Frogs started rolling, the gap only got uglier.
The finish was especially ruthless, with TCU slamming the game shut and turning a comfortable lead into a blowout.
Now the focus shifts to Sunday, and TCU’s mission is clear ... keep defending home court and punch another ticket to the Sweet 16. With Olivia Miles running the show, the Horned Frogs look built for exactly that.
