TCU baseball shut out Arizona 5-0 as Lance Davis spun seven scoreless innings and the Horned Frogs launched three home runs in Fort Worth.

TCU baseball got exactly the kind of complete performance it needed Saturday, shutting out Arizona 5-0 in Fort Worth behind a dominant start from Lance Davis and a power-filled afternoon at the plate.

The Horned Frogs used three home runs, clean defense and a sharp outing on the mound to take control early and never let the Wildcats back into Game 1 of the doubleheader.

Davis set the tone from the jump. The right-hander worked seven scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while striking out seven and walking one.

More importantly, he kept Arizona from cashing in its few chances.

When the Wildcats threatened in the second inning with two runners aboard and nobody out, Davis slammed the door with three straight strikeouts. That sequence felt like the turning point.

TCU rewarded him in the bottom half of the inning. Brady Dallimore broke the scoreless tie with a leadoff solo blast, giving the Frogs a 1-0 edge and a little breathing room.

Arizona had another shot in the third after putting runners on the corners, but an interference call on a ground ball flipped the inning into a momentum-killing double play.

From there, the TCU offense kept adding on. Nolan Traeger delivered a two-run homer in the fifth to push the lead to 3-0, then Chase Brunson followed with a two-run shot of his own to make it 5-0.

For Traeger, it was his first home run of the season. Brunson’s blast was his seventh of the year, and he also stretched both his hitting streak to seven games and his on-base streak to 12 straight.

Nate Stern closed the door over the final two innings, retiring six of the seven hitters he faced and striking out two.

The win moved TCU to 21-13 overall and 8-6 in Big 12 play. Just as encouraging, Davis has now gone 13 straight innings without allowing an earned run.
