TCU women’s basketball landed North Carolina transfer Lanie Grant, a proven scorer and elite 3-point shooter with two years of eligibility remaining.

TCU women’s basketball added a major perimeter weapon for the 2026-27 season with the addition of North Carolina transfer Lanie Grant, a guard who brings shooting, experience and high-level postseason pedigree to Fort Worth.

Grant arrives after two seasons with the Tar Heels, where she helped North Carolina reach the Sweet 16 in back-to-back years.

Her sophomore season showed exactly why she’s such an intriguing pickup for TCU. The 5-9 guard averaged 10.8 points and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range, one of the best marks in the ACC and among the top percentages nationally.

That outside shooting alone makes Grant valuable, but her game goes beyond spot-up scoring. She took on a much bigger role late in the season and thrived in it.

Over her final 17 games, Grant raised her production to 13.6 points per game while knocking down 47.2 percent of her shots from beyond the arc.

She reached double figures 13 times during that stretch and helped fuel a 14-3 run for North Carolina.

She also proved she can produce in big moments. One of her top performances came in the ACC Tournament, where she scored a career-high 21 points in a win over Virginia Tech.

In all, Grant hit at least three 3-pointers in 12 games last season and regularly created for others as well, leading North Carolina in assists in 10 games.

Grant was already a known name before college.

The Virginia native was the 2024 Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year, an ESPN HoopGurlz top-60 recruit and a standout with USA Basketball, where she won gold at the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship while averaging 11.2 points per game.

For TCU, this is the kind of portal addition that can change an offense quickly.

Grant brings proven production, efficient shooting and two more seasons to make an impact.

If the Horned Frogs are looking to stretch defenses and add another reliable scorer, they may have just found exactly the right fit.
