TCU baseball added Danny-David Linahan as hitting coach after his Texas State offense smashed 116 home runs and reached an NCAA Regional.

FORT WORTH - TCU baseball just added some serious offensive edge to Kirk Saarloos’ staff.

Danny-David Linahan is headed to Fort Worth as the Horned Frogs’ new hitting coach after spending the last two seasons in the same role at Texas State.

He’ll take over a major piece of TCU’s player development operation, bringing college success, MLB experience and a power-first track record with him.

“TCU Baseball has been one of the premier programs in college baseball, built on generations of players and coaches that have competed at the highest level,” Linahan said.

“The opportunity to compete for championships, develop hitters and represent this university is something we're extremely excited about. We are thrilled to return home to the Fort Worth area and do our part in adding to the legacy. We can't wait to get started.”

That’s the kind of quote TCU fans should love, but the numbers matter even more.

Texas State earned an at-large NCAA Tournament bid last season and went 1-2 in the College Station Regional.

The Bobcats also turned into one of the most dangerous power offenses in college baseball, blasting 116 home runs.

That total ranked in the top 10 nationally and set both a school record and Sun Belt Conference record. Texas State also finished inside the top 40 nationally with 119 doubles.

Linahan helped oversee some monster individual seasons, too.

Rashawn Galloway set a Texas State single-season record with 27 doubles and produced a 23-game hitting streak.

Jaquae Stewart set the program record with four grand slams in a season.

Before Texas State, Linahan worked in the Minnesota Twins organization as a Major League assistant hitting coach and helped the club win the 2023 AL Central.

He also spent time with the Cleveland Guardians and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations.

Now, TCU is betting that big-league development approach can bring bigger bats back to Fort Worth.
