TCU basketball earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, while Drew McElroy, Jayden Pierre and Trey Stuart landed Honors Court recognition for 2025-26.

FORT WORTH - TCU basketball added another victory on Wednesday, and this one didn’t require a last-second shot.

The Horned Frogs earned the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award after producing a team grade-point average of at least 3.0 during the 2025-26 academic year.

The recognition highlights a TCU program finding success beyond the basketball court while meeting the demanding academic standards expected of its student-athletes.

Three Horned Frogs also collected individual recognition from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Drew McElroy, Jayden Pierre and Trey Stuart were selected to the NABC Honors Court, which recognizes junior, senior and graduate players who finished the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

That achievement requires more than simply remaining eligible.

College basketball players balance year-round workouts, strength training, film sessions, practices, road trips and games while still handling full academic schedules.

McElroy, Pierre and Stuart proved they could manage those responsibilities without allowing their classroom performance to slip.

For TCU, the team award also reflects the culture surrounding the program.

Reaching a collective GPA of 3.0 requires commitment throughout the roster, along with consistent support from coaches, academic advisers and university staff.

Academic honors won’t generate the same attention as a deep postseason run, but they matter when evaluating the overall health of a college basketball program.

TCU can now point to measurable success in an area that often gets overlooked once the season begins.

The Horned Frogs will eventually be judged by wins, losses and their place in the Big 12 standings. For now, however, they’ve earned recognition for winning a different kind of battle.

McElroy, Pierre and Stuart led the way individually, but the entire TCU roster helped bring another national honor back to Fort Worth.
