TCU men’s basketball will host Baylor, Kansas and Texas Tech in Big 12 play as Jamie Dixon reloads with 10 newcomers in Fort Worth.
FORT WORTH - TCU men’s basketball just got a clearer look at the road ahead, and the Big 12 didn’t exactly hand Jamie Dixon a quiet path.
The conference released its 2026-27 schedule matrix on Thursday, locking in the Horned Frogs’ 18-game Big 12 slate.
The full dates and tip times will come later, but the opponent draw already gives TCU fans plenty to circle. Baylor, Kansas, Texas Tech and BYU are all coming to Schollmaier Arena, giving Fort Worth one of the more interesting home slates in the league.
That’s the good news. The challenge is everything else.
TCU will play Baylor, UCF, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and Utah at home only. The Frogs will travel to Arizona, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State and West Virginia for road-only matchups. Arizona State, BYU and Oklahoma State will be played twice, both home and away.
That means TCU gets major-brand energy at home but still has to survive some nasty road spots. Trips to Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State and West Virginia are never comfortable.
Add Arizona into the expanded Big 12 travel mix, and this schedule becomes a real test of depth, maturity and roster chemistry.
Dixon is entering his 11th season leading the Horned Frogs, but this won’t be a copy-and-paste roster. TCU returns just five players from last season and adds 10 newcomers.
In modern college basketball, that’s not unusual. It’s just the game now. But in a league as unforgiving as the Big 12, a new-look team has to grow up fast.
The standard is no longer simply being competitive.
TCU went 11-7 in conference play last season, the best Big 12 record in program history, and finished sixth in the league.
The Frogs have also reached the NCAA Tournament in four of the last five seasons, which means Dixon has turned this program from a nice story into a yearly expectation.
Now the question is whether this rebuilt roster can keep that run alive.
The home games should help. Baylor and Texas Tech bring rivalry edge. Kansas brings national spotlight. BYU and Arizona State add style and scoring pressure.
If Schollmaier Arena becomes a problem again, TCU can stack résumé wins without leaving Fort Worth.
But the Big 12 doesn’t let anybody hide.
The Frogs have a strong home draw, a dangerous road slate and a roster full of new faces.
