Duncan Chan and David Roditi headline a massive Big 12 awards haul for TCU men’s tennis before NCAA Tournament play begins.
TCU men’s tennis is heading into the NCAA Tournament with major momentum and a trophy case full of Big 12 honors.
The Horned Frogs earned a conference-best nine postseason awards, led by Duncan Chan being named Big 12 Co-Player of the Year and David Roditi earning Big 12 Coach of the Year for the seventh time.
Chan shared the league’s top player honor with Arizona’s Jay Friend and Baylor’s Devin Badenhorst, both of whom he defeated during the regular season. The junior has been one of the nation’s most reliable players, posting a 44-12 overall record with 16 ranked singles wins while anchoring the top of TCU’s lineup.
Roditi’s latest coaching honor adds to a historic résumé. His seven Big 12 Coach of the Year awards are the most by any coach in conference history. Under his leadership, TCU went 21-5, won the Big 12 Tournament and enters the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 2 nationally and seeded No. 6 overall.
The Horned Frogs also grabbed two more major individual awards. Oliver Bonding was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year after going 8-1 in conference singles play and earning Most Outstanding Player honors at the Big 12 Tournament.
Cosme Rolland De Ravel shared Big 12 Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Old Dominion and becoming a key leader for TCU. The senior has eight ranked singles wins and a 26-7 doubles record.
TCU’s depth showed up across the All-Big 12 teams, too. Chan, Rolland De Ravel, Cooper Woestendick and Bonding all earned first-team singles honors.
Chan and Rolland De Ravel also landed first-team doubles recognition after holding the ITA No. 1 doubles ranking late in the regular season.
Now the awards give way to postseason pressure. TCU opens NCAA Tournament play Friday against Denver in Fort Worth.
