A homecoming to Dallas and a focus on elite academics put the Horned Frogs in a prime position to land this versatile, high-upside Louisiana offensive tackle.
TCU is looking to strengthen its offensive line for the future, and the Horned Frogs have taken another step toward potentially landing a promising recruit in the 2028 class.
Offensive tackle Jayden Taylor recently discussed his scholarship offer from TCU, explaining why the program has remained on his radar and what could make Fort Worth an attractive destination as he evaluates his college options.
Taylor, who attends St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, has a connection to the Dallas area that could give the Horned Frogs an advantage in his recruitment. Originally from Dallas, Taylor said the opportunity to play college football close to home was appealing when he learned about TCU's interest.
"I felt great when I heard it," Taylor said. "TCU has always been on my college list because it's close to home."
That familiarity could give TCU an important starting point as it competes with other programs for Taylor's commitment. However, the Horned Frogs are also emphasizing how his physical abilities could translate to their offensive system.
During his conversations with TCU assistant director of player personnel Chris Owens, Taylor received insight into how the coaching staff could utilize his skill set.
"I've always looked at TCU coming up because I'm originally from Dallas. Chris let me know how I could fit into the offense because they utilize length and athleticism, which I believe are my two best traits."
Those qualities are particularly valuable for offensive tackles, who must handle powerful pass rushers while possessing the mobility to operate effectively in different blocking schemes.
Taylor also brings positional flexibility, saying he is comfortable playing either left or right tackle. That versatility could make him an appealing long-term addition as TCU continues building its offensive line.
Although football remains central to his recruitment, Taylor made it clear that his college decision will extend beyond what happens on the field.
"Academics reigns supreme in my decision. I want to be confident in knowing I will earn a top notch degree that I can make good on later in life, because football is not forever."
Taylor currently has 17 scholarship offers and does not plan to rush his decision, indicating that he could commit sometime next summer.
For TCU, that timeline provides an opportunity to continue developing its relationship with the 2028 prospect. The combination of Taylor's Dallas roots, his athletic traits, and his interest in the program gives the Horned Frogs a foundation to build upon as his recruitment progresses.
Landing Taylor would give TCU another opportunity to invest in its offensive line future while pursuing a prospect who already sees potential in what the program has to offer.
