TCU men’s golf freshman Sam Udovich keeps stacking milestones in a standout debut season.
Udovich was named All-Big 12 Second Team on Monday, becoming the first TCU freshman to earn All-Big 12 honors.
The recognition adds another major achievement to a season that has already placed the Minnesota native among the most impressive young players in the conference.
Udovich, from Grove Heights, Minnesota, has been TCU’s most consistent player this season. He leads the Horned Frogs with a 70.43 scoring average and has posted four top-10 finishes, giving TCU a steady presence at the top of its lineup.
His latest honor comes shortly after a strong showing at the Big 12 Championship, where Udovich finished fourth and earned a spot on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team.
That performance helped cement his place among the league’s top 20 players, with All-Big 12 selections determined by Clippd rankings.
Udovich also delivered one of the best tournament performances in recent TCU history earlier this season. In October, he finished 19 under at the Ka’anapali Classic, placing runner-up.
His 54-hole total of 194 was the lowest by a TCU player since at least the 1993-94 season, while his score in relation to par matched the program’s best mark over that same span.
The freshman’s all-conference honor puts him in rare company. He’s the first Horned Frog freshman to earn all-conference recognition since Julien Brun, who was named All-Mountain West Conference during the 2011-12 season.
Oklahoma State’s Preston Stout was named Big 12 Player of the Year, while BYU’s Kihei Akina earned Freshman of the Year.
For TCU, Udovich’s breakthrough season gives the program a young building block with clear star potential.
