Four-star cornerback Zadian Gentry will visit TCU after Oklahoma State, giving the Horned Frogs a hometown shot at one of Texas' top 2025 defensive backs soon.
TCU football recruiting is getting a major opportunity with four-star cornerback Zadian Gentry, one of the Dallas-Fort Worth area’s most coveted defensive prospects.
The McKinney High School standout has scheduled an official visit to TCU for June 7-9, giving the Horned Frogs a valuable home-field advantage in a crowded recruiting battle.
Gentry will first take an official visit to Oklahoma State from April 26-28. After that trip, TCU will get its chance to convince the 6-foot-1, 170-pound defensive back that Fort Worth is the best place to build his college career.
And this recruitment won’t be a quiet two-team fight.
SMU, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Baylor are among the programs pursuing Gentry, while Pittsburgh recently joined the race with an offer following his junior season.
Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Houston, California and Arizona State have also offered, creating a national market for one of North Texas’ top defensive backs.
That makes Gentry’s TCU visit especially important.
The Horned Frogs don’t have to sell him on life in the Metroplex. They can focus on the football fit, development plan and opportunity to compete in the Big 12 without forcing him to move hundreds of miles away from home.
Gentry is ranked as the No. 33 cornerback in the On300 and the No. 273 overall prospect nationally. He’s also listed as the No. 46 recruit in Texas, a state loaded with enough talent to make even a top-50 ranking significant.
His frame gives college coaches plenty to work with. At 6-foot-1, Gentry has the length programs want on the outside, along with the athleticism needed to challenge receivers in coverage.
Adding strength will be part of his development, but his size and recruiting profile have already made him a priority target across the region.
For TCU, landing Gentry would mean more than adding another four-star commitment.
It would be a statement that the Horned Frogs can protect their backyard against Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU and the rest of the schools constantly raiding the Dallas area.
The opportunity is now on the calendar.
Oklahoma State gets the first official visit. TCU gets the hometown swing in June. Now the Horned Frogs have to make it count.
