Braylon Deal gives TCU another Texas playmaker, bringing size, bloodlines and three-way production to a 2027 class gaining serious heat for Dykes in Fort Worth.
FORT WORTH - TCU football recruiting just got louder, and Braylon Deal is exactly the kind of in-state pickup that makes sense for Sonny Dykes’ 2027 class.
The Garland Naaman Forest playmaker committed to the Horned Frogs, giving TCU another Texas athlete with size, production and plenty of room to grow.

Deal isn’t a one-trick receiver. At 6-3 and 175 pounds, he brings a long frame to the outside, but his junior-year stat line shows why TCU pushed hard.
He caught 26 passes for 429 yards and six touchdowns, ran for 265 yards and three more scores, and even threw for 817 yards with eight touchdowns.
Deal also made noise on defense, where he totaled 51 tackles and returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown.
In a modern college football world built around mismatches, players who can win in multiple ways are worth chasing early.
The family connection only adds more juice. Deal’s brothers have already been part of the TCU pipeline, making Fort Worth a familiar landing spot.
Still, this wasn’t simply a legacy layup. Deal had other options, including Houston, Utah, Texas Tech and several more programs trying to get involved.
A big reason is wide receivers coach Malcolm Kelly, whose résumé has become a recruiting weapon.
Quentin Johnston became a first-round NFL Draft pick in 2023. Jalen Reagor did the same in 2020. For a young receiver trying to turn tools into Sunday potential, that history matters.
Deal becomes the 13th commitment in TCU’s 2027 class and joins Kobe Haynes in a growing receiver group that already looks dangerous.
The rankings will move. Bodies will change. Recruiting battles will keep coming.
But this one fits. TCU landed a Texas athlete with bloodlines, production and a ceiling worth betting on.
