Jamie Dixon battles powerhouse programs to land the elite 2027 playmaker in Fort Worth, marking a pivotal step in the Horned Frogs' pursuit of a national standout.
TCU has already survived one pretty significant cut in Devin Cleveland's recruitment.
Now comes the fun part ... the Horned Frogs actually get to make their pitch.
Cleveland, a four-star guard and one of the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, has scheduled an official visit to TCU from Sept. 24-26, Rivals' Joe Tipton reported.
And Jamie Dixon won't exactly be competing against a light group for Cleveland's commitment.
Cleveland has also scheduled official visits to Alabama, Missouri and Michigan. Alabama gets the first crack from Sept. 18-20 before Cleveland heads to Fort Worth four days later. He'll then visit Missouri from Oct. 3-4 and Michigan from Nov. 6-8.
Getting Cleveland to TCU is significant on its own, but it means a little more when you consider where his recruitment stood less than a month ago.
Cleveland trimmed his list to seven programs in late July, with TCU surviving alongside Alabama, Arkansas, Marquette, Michigan, Missouri and Syracuse.
Making the cut was Step 1. Getting him to Fort Worth is Step 2.
And there's plenty of reason for Dixon and company to want Step 3.
The 6-3 guard will play his senior season at La Lumiere School in Indiana after competing with Bradley Beal Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer.
Cleveland has earned praise from national analysts and scouts for his scoring ability, playmaking and effectiveness in transition. He's rated as a four-star prospect and sits inside the top 40 nationally in the 2027 class.
And getting a player of Cleveland's caliber to campus gives TCU a valuable opportunity this fall.
Cleveland has previously visited both Marquette and Michigan, so this won't exactly be his first opportunity to see what another contender has to offer.
But official visits represent a different stage of the process.
There are still seven programs involved, four official visits currently scheduled and plenty of time before Cleveland has to make a decision. TCU doesn't need to win his recruitment in September.
It just needs to give him a reason to want to come back.
The Horned Frogs have already gotten Cleveland's attention, survived the cut and secured the visit.
From Sept. 24-26, they'll finally get their chance to sell him on what comes next.
