Olivia Miles and Duncan Chan give TCU two elite contenders for Big 12 Athlete of the Year after record-setting seasons in basketball and tennis.
TCU has produced plenty of stars, but Olivia Miles and Duncan Chan didn’t simply enjoy strong seasons.
They overwhelmed opponents, rewrote record books and carried the Horned Frogs onto some of college athletics’ biggest stages.
Now both are in contention for the 2025-26 Big 12 Athlete of the Year awards, giving TCU two candidates with resumes that are almost impossible to ignore.
Miles’ lone season in Fort Worth became a full-scale takeover.
The graduate guard averaged 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists per game, earning Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors. She was also a unanimous first-team All-Big 12 selection and received consensus All-America recognition.
Those awards only begin to explain her impact.
Miles recorded six triple-doubles, setting Big 12 single-season and career records. She also joined an exclusive group of four NCAA players to finish with at least 2,000 career points, 800 rebounds and 800 assists.
Her consistency may have been even more impressive. Miles led the country with 26 games featuring at least 15 points and five assists, giving TCU an elite scorer and playmaker every time she stepped onto the court.
The No. 2 overall selection in the 2026 WNBA Draft also handled business away from basketball. Miles earned first-team Academic All-America honors with a 3.75 GPA and received the Bob Bowlsby Award.
Chan’s season was just as ruthless on the tennis court.
The junior earned Big 12 Co-Player of the Year honors while landing on the conference’s first team in both singles and doubles. He also secured ITA All-America recognition in both formats.
Chan climbed to No. 1 nationally in doubles during the season before finishing ranked third in doubles and seventh in singles. His combined record of 50-13 led TCU in overall victories, singles wins and doubles wins.
Against ranked competition, Chan went 17-7. During Big 12 singles play, nobody beat him.
His production helped push the Horned Frogs to a Big 12 Tournament championship and an appearance in the NCAA semifinals. Like Miles, Chan paired athletic dominance with academic success, earning first-team Academic All-America honors while carrying a 3.54 GPA.
The Big 12 winners will be announced July 23, and both TCU nominees face accomplished competition from across the conference.
Still, Miles and Chan have built more than respectable cases. They’ve given the Horned Frogs two legitimate shots at sweeping the league’s biggest individual athletic honors.
