TCU women’s golf shot a program-best NCAA Regional round, led by Kirstin Angosta’s 66, to stay alive in the Waco Regional hunt.

TCU women’s golf suddenly has life at the NCAA Waco Regional, and the Horned Frogs earned it with their best postseason punch of the week.

After a rough opening round left TCU buried in 10th place, the Frogs answered Tuesday with a 4-under 276 at Ridgewood Country Club.

That score marked a 19-shot improvement from Monday and set a new TCU NCAA Regionals record for low round versus par.

More importantly, it pushed the Horned Frogs into eighth place and within five strokes of the final NCAA Championships qualifying spot heading into Wednesday’s final round.

Kirstin Angosta delivered the round TCU desperately needed. The junior fired a 4-under 66, the lowest NCAA Regional round by a Horned Frog, and climbed into a tie for sixth at 2-under 138.

Angosta made five birdies and stayed steady enough to enter the final day only three shots behind the individual leaders: Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos, LSU’s Francesca Fiorellini and SMU’s Kirra St. Laurent.

Camille Min-Gaultier also went low, shooting a 2-under 68 to move to 2-over for the tournament. It was her 15th career round in the 60s, adding another strong line to an already impressive TCU resume. Sofie Dimitrova and Yvette O’Brien each posted 71s, while Gracie McGovern added a 72.

TCU’s rally started early after teeing off on the back nine. The Frogs stacked birdies on the opening stretch, surged around the turn, then closed with a late push that included three birdies on the par-5 ninth.

SMU leads the regional at 14-under, while Baylor and Tulsa are tied for fifth at 6-over. TCU sits at 11-over, close enough to make Wednesday interesting.

The Horned Frogs tee off at 8:50 a.m. CT with Tennessee and Tarleton State, chasing one more comeback.
