TCU women’s golf is eighth at the Huntington Bank Collegiate after 36 holes, with Kirstin Angosta leading the Horned Frogs at 2-under 142.

DALLAS - TCU women’s golf is still very much alive at the Huntington Bank Collegiate after a steady opening day at Trinity Forest Golf Club.

In a loaded field packed with nationally ranked teams, the Horned Frogs pieced together two solid rounds Monday and closed 36 holes at 5-over 581, putting themselves in eighth place with one round left in Dallas.

That leaves TCU within striking distance heading into Tuesday. The Horned Frogs are only a handful of shots away from climbing higher, and that matters in an event where every spot on the leaderboard is hard-earned.

With 10 ranked teams in the 17-team field, there hasn’t been much room for mistakes.

Kirstin Angosta gave TCU women’s golf the kind of performance it needed to stay competitive. The junior opened with a 2-under 70 and followed it with an even-par 72 to sit at 2-under 142, tied for 14th individually.

Just as important, she continued the strong late-season form that’s helped stabilize TCU’s lineup. Angosta played par or better on 32 of her 36 holes, a remarkably clean card that kept momentum on the Frogs’ side throughout the day.

Camille Min-Gaultier also delivered a key round for TCU. Less than a day after returning from the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the All-American fired a 1-under 71 in round two and moved to 1-over for the tournament. She’ll enter the final round tied for 33rd.

Sofie Dimitrova is close behind at 2-over 146 after posting back-to-back 73s. Her work on the par-5s has been especially valuable, as she’s been one of the best scorers in the field on those holes.

Gracie McGovern added eight birdies across her two rounds and sits tied for 51st at 4-over 148.

UCLA leads the team race at 17-under, with Oklahoma State one shot back. TCU tees off Tuesday morning knowing a strong finish could still make a major move.
