TCU receiver Eric McAlister suffered a broken foot at Pro Day, adding another hurdle to a pre-draft process already shaped by injury concerns and scrutiny.

TCU wide receiver Eric McAlister saw his road to the NFL take an unfortunate turn during the Horned Frogs’ Pro Day, suffering a broken foot during position work in a setback that could impact his immediate draft outlook.

The injury, identified as a Jones fracture, is expected to heal in time for the start of the season, but it arrives at a tough moment for a player trying to fight his way onto an NFL roster.

McAlister was already viewed as a fringe draft prospect, with most projections placing him in the undrafted free agent range.

Even so, his production at TCU gave teams something to study. In 2025, McAlister turned in a breakout campaign with 72 catches for 1,190 yards and 10 touchdowns, numbers that helped him earn All-America recognition and establish himself as one of the more explosive playmakers in the Horned Frogs’ offense.

Before arriving at TCU, McAlister spent three seasons at Boise State, giving him a college resume built on experience and big-play ability.

That background made the Pro Day especially important, as it offered one more chance to impress scouts in person before the draft process reaches its finish line.

Now, the focus shifts to recovery and to how NFL teams weigh the full picture. McAlister’s on-field talent is clear, but teams have also spent time examining off-field concerns during pre-draft meetings.

Those issues add another layer to an already complicated evaluation at a moment when every detail matters.

For McAlister, the timing couldn’t be much worse. A strong workout might have created momentum heading into draft weekend. Instead, he’ll now need to convince teams that his foot will heal cleanly and that he’s still worth a post-draft opportunity.

The ability is there. The production is there. Now his path to the league may depend on patience, recovery and finding a team willing to bet on upside despite the setbacks.
