TCU baseball rolled past Baylor to finish a doubleheader sweep as Zack James dominated again and Preston Gamster powered the offense with three RBIs.
FORT WORTH - TCU baseball closed out a huge day in Waco with a convincing 10-2 win over Baylor on Sunday, finishing off a doubleheader sweep behind another standout start from Zack James and a breakout performance at the plate from Preston Gamster.
The Horned Frogs improved to 24-15 overall and 10-8 in Big 12 play, building momentum as they head back to Fort Worth.
James continued to look like one of the hottest arms in the conference. The right-hander moved to 5-0 after working deep into the game and allowing just one run while piling up a career-high eight strikeouts.
Over his last 22 innings, James has surrendered only one run, giving TCU exactly the kind of consistency it needs as the regular season tightens up.
The Frogs didn’t waste time giving him support. Jack Arthur sparked the offense early, scoring the game’s first run in the opening inning, and TCU kept applying pressure from there.
Rob Liddington and Preston Gamster teamed up with back-to-back doubles in the second inning, and the lineup kept producing in key moments throughout the afternoon.
After Baylor trimmed the lead to 2-1, TCU answered quickly. Cole Cramer drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, and the Horned Frogs broke things open an inning later.
Jack Bell brought home a run, then Gamster delivered the biggest swing of the game with a two-run homer that pushed the advantage to 6-1.
Gamster finished with three hits and three RBIs, turning in one of the best games of his TCU career.
Cramer also came through in a big way, collecting two hits and driving in three runs, while Liddington added a pair of hits as the Frogs piled up 16 total knocks.
TCU added four more runs in the ninth to put the game completely out of reach.
With the sweep complete, the Horned Frogs now return home for a five-game homestand that begins Tuesday night against Dallas Baptist.
