The team with the WNBA's best record a year ago has landed college basketball's best point guard in the draft.

Olivia Miles did a lot of winning with TCU in her one season in Fort Worth.

And now she's expected to continue those winning ways as she enters one of the best situations in the WNBA.

Miles has been taken No. 2 overall by the Minnesota Lynx in Monday's 2026 WNBA Draft.

Minnesota had the best record in the league last season and now has chosen its new point guard of the future.

Miles credited "betting on herself" as being the determining factor into becoming one of college basketball's most elite and now a top draft pick. After a storied career at Notre Dame, Miles joined the Horned Frogs and immediately turned Mark Campbell's team into a contender last season.

TCU won the Big 12 Conference title and reached its second straight Sweet 16 largely off of Miles' season averages of 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.6 assists. She took home conference player of the year honors, as well, before raising each of her averages in the NCAA tournament run.

"This year has paid off for me in ways that I can't even describe," Miles told USA TODAY earlier this season. "I found my joy back, my love for the game, and I found a sisterhood and a family that I'll have forever.

"I've grown in my leadership. I've grown in my game, obviously. I'm having a career year across the board. But also I've grown in just trusting myself and knowing that I can play at a high level, and I didn't quite think I was there last year or a ready enough to be a pro at that moment but now I feel ready."

Last year the Lynx went 34-10 but will be without superstar forward Napheesa Collier until the midway point of this upcoming season as she rehabs an injury. The continuity, however, remains with the busy offseason free agency period including Minnesota re-sign Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride. The Lynx also inked external signings Nia Coffey and Natasha Howard.

There are championship expectations in the Twin Cities, and there's a new point guard at the controls.

Oliva Miles Becomes First WNBA Rookie to Sign Deal with Unrivaled

In addition to her new place in the league, Miles has also landed a transcendent deal with the Unrivaled league, officially proving that the new alternative format has reached the new generation of stars.

The former Horned Frog is the first incoming rookie in this year's WNBA class to sign a contract with Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 league entering its third season in 2027. This upcoming season will see the league expand from six to eight teams, and Miles will learn which squad she lands on at a later date.

WNBA superstars Breanna Stewart and Collier co-founded the league. According to SI, it "uses a unique model focused on investing in its own athletes."

"Teams feature the current top women’s basketball stars in the world."

And now we can officially put Olivia Miles' name into the field as she enters the professional ranks.
