Clara Silva's dominance and Veronica Sheffey's spark fuel TCU's ascent. Discover the standout players driving their Big 12 title charge.

As Big 12 play reaches its midpoint, TCU Horned Frogs have positioned themselves exactly where they want to be ... near the top of the standings and squarely in the conference title conversation.

An 8-1 league record has the Horned Frogs tracking toward a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and several players deserve recognition for making that possible.

Here’s a midseason look at the individuals who have defined TCU’s Big 12 run so far according to KillerFrogs.com.

Most Improved Player: Clara Silva

Few players in the conference have made a bigger leap than Clara Silva. The 6-7 sophomore has transformed into one of the Big 12’s most reliable interior forces, anchoring TCU on both ends of the floor.

Silva has become a constant presence around the rim, ranking among league leaders in rebounding and leading the Big 12 in blocked shots during conference play. Just as important, her offensive confidence has grown rapidly. After being a sporadic scoring option early in the season, Silva has turned into a consistent double-figure threat, finishing efficiently and punishing defenses that overcommit elsewhere.

Her growth has allowed TCU’s offense to thrive inside-out, and her rim protection has been a major reason the Horned Frogs sit tied for first place in the conference.

Spark Off the Bench: Veronica Sheffey

Every contender needs a steady hand off the bench, and Veronica Sheffey has filled that role perfectly. A proven scorer earlier in her career, Sheffey has embraced a new assignment at TCU ... providing energy, smart decision-making, and timely baskets.

Her scoring numbers don’t always jump off the page, but her impact does. Whether it’s a momentum-shifting layup, a defensive stop, or calming the offense during a rough stretch, Sheffey has repeatedly delivered in winning moments. Her expanded minutes in conference play reflect the trust she’s earned, and her versatility has been invaluable amid lineup adjustments.

Most Valuable Player: Olivia Miles

There’s little debate at the top. Olivia Miles has been the engine behind TCU’s success and the clear midseason MVP.

Miles has elevated every aspect of her game, posting career highs in scoring, minutes, and efficiency while continuing to rank among the nation’s best playmakers. Beyond the numbers, her leadership has reshaped the program’s ceiling. She controls tempo, creates offense under pressure, rebounds at an elite level for a guard, and consistently makes teammates better.

Her historic milestones and nightly production tell part of the story, but her value shows most in how composed and connected TCU looks with the ball in her hands.

With the toughest stretch of the Big 12 schedule still ahead, the Horned Frogs will lean heavily on this trio. If their midseason form holds, TCU’s championship aspirations are very real.
