Stephiylan Green has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, and Texas A&M is quickly being viewed around the college football landscape as a frontrunner to land the experienced interior defensive lineman ahead of the 2026 season.
Green entered the portal when it opened on Jan. 2, ending a three-year run at Clemson. He emerged as a starter this past season, appearing in 10 games with six starts and posting 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pass breakup.
Over his Clemson career, Green totaled 34 tackles and two pass deflections in 24 games, showing steady development along one of the ACC's most talented defensive fronts.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Green represents the type of portal target programs covet ... proven Power Five experience, starter reps, and physical upside that hasn't fully peaked yet.
Ironically, Green was positioned for a bigger role in Clemson's defense moving forward.
With starters Peter Woods and DeMonte Capehart both declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, Green was expected to be one of the anchors of the Tigers' interior line.
Instead, his portal decision has flipped the script, leaving Clemson suddenly thin at defensive tackle and scrambling to rebuild the position through recruiting and transfers.
That's where the Texas A&M Aggies come into the picture.
Defensive line remains a priority area for Texas A&M heading into next season, and Green checks multiple boxes for the Aggies. He brings SEC-ready size, experience against elite competition, and immediate rotational - or starting - potential.
With A&M continuing to emphasize defensive line development and depth, Green fits the profile of a plug-and-play addition who can stabilize the middle while younger players develop.
Clemson, meanwhile, will enter 2026 with six scholarship defensive tackles - Vic Burley, Champ Thompson, Hevin Brown-Shuler, Amare Adams, Makhi Williams-Lee, and freshman Kam Cody - but none with Green's combination of starting experience and production.
His departure has turned defensive tackle into one of Clemson's top portal needs, even as Texas A&M looks poised to capitalize.
For the Aggies, landing Green would be more than just depth insurance. It would be a statement portal win, taking a former ACC starter, in his prime eligibility years, and dropping him into an SEC rotation built to showcase and maximize interior defenders.
If Texas A&M closes the deal, Green could quickly become one of the most impactful defensive portal additions of the offseason - and a key piece of the Aggies' plans for next fall.
