The Texas A&M Aggies just made program history ... again ... and shocked the college volleyball world.
In a five-set thriller Sunday night in Lincoln, No. 3 seed Texas A&M upset previously unbeaten No. 1 Nebraska, sending the Aggies to their first-ever NCAA Women’s Volleyball Final Four.
The 27-4 Aggies stunned a sold-out crowd at Bob Devaney Center by winning the fifth set 15-13 after Nebraska stormed back to tie the match at two sets apiece.
Senior Logan Lednicky was dominant, finishing with 24 kills and six block assists, while sophomore Kyndal Stowers poured in 25 kills and 16 digs, continuing her breakout postseason performance.
"We've been grinding for this moment," Lednicky said after the win. "The newbies came in hungry, and we're all just locked in."
The Aggies took the first two sets 25-22, outplaying a Nebraska squad that had looked nearly untouchable all season. But the Huskers, five-time national champions, clawed back with a 25-20 win in the third, followed by an epic 37-35 win in the fourth, surviving 10 set points.
It felt like momentum had completely shifted, but A&M didn't blink.
The Aggies went back to their bread and butter of size and pressure at the net. They out-blocked Nebraska 30-16, suffocating the Huskers' attack and stealing back control.
Coach Jamie Morrison, now in his third year, called it a defining moment for the program.
"We played like veterans. We played like we had something to prove. And we proved it," Morrison said. "I'm so proud of these women."
The Aggies had only beaten a No. 1 team once before - way back in 1995 against Stanford.
Sunday night marked the end of Nebraska's 29-match home win streak and gave the SEC another Final Four team alongside Kentucky, which punched its ticket a day earlier.
Texas A&M now prepares for a national semifinal showdown with No. 1 seed Pitt on Thursday in Kansas City.
But no matter what happens next, this match is already etched in Aggies history. And if A&M keeps this momentum, the best may still be to come.
