No. 23 Texas A&M Baseball Hosts Lamar to Cap Homestand at Blue Bell Park cover image

Texas A&M baseball looks to stay unbeaten as Aiden Sims, Shane Sdao and Terrence Kiel II lead the Aggies into a midweek matchup with Lamar.

Texas A&M baseball isn’t easing into the week. The Aggies are sprinting. No. 23 Texas A&M (7-0) wraps up its eight-game stretch at Olsen Field on Tuesday night when Lamar comes to Blue Bell Park for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch.

And right now, everything about this team screams momentum.

The Aggies have handled business early this season, especially on the mound.

Over the weekend, A&M’s pitching staff was surgical. In a three-game set against Penn, the Aggies allowed just one earned run, issued zero walks and punched out 32 hitters. The staff posted a microscopic 0.48 WHIP, suffocating opposing hitters before rallies could even think about forming.

Shane Sdao and Aiden Sims were the tone-setters. Sdao struck out a career-high seven, while Sims took it further with 10 punchouts of his own. If that version of the Aggie rotation keeps showing up, this team is going to be a nightmare in SEC play.

Offensively, Texas A&M is finding consistency at the top.

Terrence Kiel II has been locked in, reaching base safely in all seven games. The sophomore outfielder is hitting .440 through 25 plate appearances, with eight runs scored and two doubles. He’s been a spark plug - getting on, creating traffic and setting the table.

Freshman Nico Partida is making noise too. He collected five hits over the weekend, including a two-run homer, and now shares the team lead with three home runs. Not bad for a newcomer still getting his feet wet in college baseball.

Lamar (5-3) enters with nothing to lose, but history favors the Aggies. A&M holds a commanding edge in the all-time series and has consistently protected home turf in College Station.

With pitching clicking and bats heating up, Tuesday offers another chance to stay perfect ... and keep building something bigger than just a hot start.
