Texas A&M baseball is rolling into SEC play with serious momentum. The No. 22 Aggies (14-1) wrapped up a dominant weekend in College Station, sweeping Oakland behind a red-hot offense and steady pitching performances as they prepare for a massive road series against No. 12 Oklahoma next week.
Weather forced the Aggies into a Friday doubleheader and an earlier Saturday start, but the schedule shuffle didn’t slow down Michael Earley’s club.
Game one required some resilience. Texas A&M fell behind 3-0 early, but the Aggies flipped the script thanks to outfielder Caden Sorrell, who blasted his seventh home run of the season to tie the game during the middle innings. The momentum swing sparked a rally that carried A&M to a 6-3 comeback victory.
The bats didn’t cool off in the second game.
Texas A&M piled up 11 hits and two home runs in a 10-2 win, while right-hander Weston Moss delivered another strong outing on the mound to keep Oakland’s offense in check.
Saturday’s finale was moved up due to incoming weather, but the Aggies were wide awake at the plate.
Texas A&M exploded for six runs in the fourth inning, blowing the game open.
Once again, Sorrell delivered the big moment, launching his eighth home run of the season while driving in three runs.
The Aggies finished the day with 14 hits and three home runs, showcasing an offense that appears ready for the grind of SEC competition.
On the pitching side, Aiden Sims earned his third win of the season, working five innings with four strikeouts while allowing just four hits.
Veteran reliever Josh Stewart closed things down effectively, matching Sims with four strikeouts out of the bullpen.
The Aggies are still awaiting the return of injured starters Chris Hacopian and Wesley Jordan, but the lineup hasn’t missed a beat.
Now comes the real test. Texas A&M travels to Norman next weekend to open SEC play against Oklahoma, where the Aggies will look to prove their early-season dominance translates against elite conference competition.
