Texas A&M basketball delivered one of its grittiest wins of the season Wednesday night, storming back in the final minutes to edge Ole Miss 80-77 at Reed Arena.
The Aggies closed the game on a decisive 12-2 run, flipping what looked like a frustrating SEC loss into a signature conference victory.
For much of the second half, it felt like the Rebels were in control. Ole Miss stretched its lead to 13 points midway through the half, putting Texas A&M in scramble mode.
Every time the Aggies chipped the deficit down, the Rebels answered - until the final four minutes changed everything.
Ruben Dominguez ignited the comeback, knocking down a 3-pointer and later delivering clutch free throws to pull the Aggies within striking distance.
Moments later, Zach Clemence provided a massive spark off the bench, finishing inside and knocking down a tough jumper with a defender draped all over him.
Clemence finished with 14 points and posted a team-best plus-20 in plus/minus in just 24 minutes - a major impact performance.
Then came Rashaun Agee.
The veteran forward took over late, attacking the paint and cleaning up on the glass. Agee recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists.
His driving layup gave Texas A&M its first lead of the second half with under two minutes remaining, sending Reed Arena into a frenzy.
The Aggies dominated inside all night, outscoring Ole Miss 50-34 in the paint and controlling the boards 37-23.
That rebounding advantage translated into an 18-4 edge in second-chance points - a critical factor in a three-point game.
Marcus Hill continued his strong stretch of play with 14 points, marking his 15th double-digit performance this season. Over his last six games, Hill is averaging 15.3 points while shooting nearly 60 percent from the floor.
Texas A&M’s offense flipped the script after halftime, shooting an efficient 61.3 percent in the second half after struggling early. The Aggies improved to 18-8 overall and 8-5 in SEC play with the win.
Next up, Texas A&M travels to Oklahoma for a Saturday night SEC showdown as the Aggies look to build momentum in the conference race.
