2027 4-Star Edge Rusher Locks in With Texas A&M

Texas A&M football just got another loud reminder that the Elko era is gaining serious recruiting muscle.

Four-star edge rusher Kaden McCarty has shut down his recruitment and made it clear he’s all-in with the Aggies.

The Houston Cypress Falls standout committed to Texas A&M on Dec. 8, 2025, and hasn’t visited another school since. Now, with his official visit to College Station set for May 28, there’s no more drama attached.

McCarty announced it himself, writing that he’s been “locked in from the start” and calling himself an “aggie 4L.”

McCarty isn’t just another name in the class. He’s ranked No. 198 overall, No. 21 among edge rushers and No. 32 in Texas in the 247Sports composite.

He chose Texas A&M over Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor and Houston, giving the Aggies a head-to-head win over multiple in-state programs.

His junior tape explains the fight. In 13 games, McCarty piled up 51 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 20 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.

He also gives Texas A&M something specific. McCarty is currently the Aggies’ only edge commitment in the 2027 class, though the defensive front already has serious juice with five-star defensive lineman Zyron Forstall and four-star Myels Smith committed.

This is becoming a trend for A&M. Five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey and four-star cornerback Hakim Frampton have also publicly shut down their recruitments.

That kind of early buy-in is huge for a class currently ranked No. 1 nationally by 247Sports.

For Mike Elko’s staff, every locked-in pledge clears the board a little more. No babysitting. No panic. No late scramble.

Kaden McCarty is staying home-state strong with Texas A&M. And the Aggies’ 2027 class keeps looking nastier.
