Kaden Henderson’s commitment gives Texas A&M another five-star win and pushes Mike Elko’s 2027 recruiting class deeper into historic territory.

Texas A&M just landed another monster piece for its 2027 recruiting class, and this one feels bigger than a simple star-rating win.

Five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson committed to the Aggies over Notre Dame, giving Mike Elko another blue-chip prize in a class that already sits at No. 1 nationally.

Depending on the recruiting service, Henderson becomes Texas A&M’s fifth or sixth five-star pledge in the 2027 cycle, which tells you exactly how serious this run is getting in College Station.

This wasn’t some sleepy recruitment, either.

Notre Dame made a real push late and even had momentum heading into Henderson’s decision. LSU and Miami were also involved after official visits, but Texas A&M had the combination that mattered most ... relationships, scheme fit and a clear path toward NFL development.

That’s where Elko and linebackers coach Travis Williams made their move.

Henderson fits what Elko and defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill want defensively, and with the Aggies coming off a 2026 NFL Draft that saw 10 Texas A&M players selected, the pitch has teeth.

For years, linebacker recruiting has been one of the weird missing pieces at Texas A&M.

The Aggies have signed elite talent all over the field, but they’ve rarely hit big on former five-star linebacker targets. Henderson changes that immediately.

According to 247Sports, Henderson is now the highest-rated linebacker commit in Texas A&M history.

That puts him ahead of former outside linebacker Justin Warren from the 2003 class and Anthony Hines from the 2017 cycle.

The position hasn’t produced enough draft results lately.

Since 2014, Texas A&M has had only two linebackers selected in the NFL Draft.

For a program trying to build a real SEC monster under Elko, that number has to change.

Henderson gives the Aggies a chance to flip the script. He’s not just another headline commitment. He’s a statement that Texas A&M isn’t only stacking stars - it’s finally attacking one of its biggest roster blind spots.
