Texas A&M men’s tennis will host 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend after a No. 11 finish, bringing Rice, Grand Canyon and Samford to College Station.

Texas A&M men’s tennis is bringing a major early-season stage back to College Station.

After finishing the 2026 season ranked No. 11 nationally by the ITA, the Aggies were selected to host a 2027 ITA Kickoff Weekend pod on Jan. 23-24.

Rice, Grand Canyon and Samford will join Texas A&M in the four-team event, with a trip to the National Indoor Team Championships on the line.

For Steve Denton’s program, this is a big deal.

Texas A&M hasn’t hosted ITA Kickoff Weekend since 2022, but the Aggies haven’t needed home cooking to get through recently.

They have advanced to National Indoors in each of the last three seasons, winning on the road at Georgia in 2024, Harvard in 2025 and NC State in 2026.

Now, they get to chase that same prize in front of their own crowd.

The format is simple and loaded with pressure. Top-seeded Texas A&M will face No. 4 Samford in the opening round.

No. 2 Rice and No. 3 Grand Canyon meet on the other side, with the winners advancing to play for the championship spot.

The Aggies should have plenty of firepower. Texas A&M returns five of six regulars from a 2026 lineup that went 20-10, reached the SEC Tournament semifinals and earned an NCAA First and Second Round host site.

Theo Papamalamis and Kholo Montsi are back after earning first-team All-SEC honors, while Markus Molder returns after landing on the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Denton also added serious roster juice with transfers Hamza Nasridinov from Auburn, Bor Artnak from Arizona State and Ilia Snitari from UNLV.

Freshman James Quattro, the top recruit from Texas, gives the Aggies another young weapon.

Texas A&M has already proven it can win these weekends on the road. In 2027, the Aggies get the chance to do it at home.
