Texas A&M adds proven power to its lineup with UConn transfer Tyler Minick, a former All-American who blasted 18 home runs during the 2025 season.
Texas A&M baseball just added another dangerous bat to its rebuild.
Former UConn standout Tyler Minick announced Friday that he’s transferring to the Aggies, giving Texas A&M a proven power hitter with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The Reading, Pennsylvania, native can play the infield or serve as the designated hitter.
Minick arrives in College Station with a career .310 batting average, 32 home runs, 22 doubles and 107 RBI across 113 games. He started 104 times during three seasons with the Huskies and established himself as one of the Big East’s most feared hitters.
His breakout came in 2025.
Minick crushed 18 home runs while batting .362 with nine doubles, 62 RBI and 55 runs scored. He posted a massive .747 slugging percentage and reached base at a .444 clip, earning Second Team All-American recognition from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
He was also selected to the All-Big East Second Team.
The 6-0, 196-pound right-handed hitter couldn’t quite duplicate those numbers in 2026, but he remained productive in limited action.
Minick appeared in 27 games and hit .283 with five homers, six doubles and 17 RBI. His slugging percentage dipped to .469, while his on-base percentage fell to .336.
That down year creates an intriguing challenge for Texas A&M.
The Aggies aren’t merely adding a veteran bat—they’re betting they can unlock the version of Minick who terrorized pitchers as a sophomore.
Minick was one of two portal commitments Texas A&M secured Friday. Former Dallas Baptist outfielder Dylan Schlaegel also joined the Aggies, continuing an aggressive push to reshape the roster.
If Minick rediscovers his 2025 swing, Texas A&M may have landed one of the most impactful power hitters available in the transfer portal.
