KC Concepcion is speaking out. In his voice. In his way. And it's powerful stuff.
The Texas A&M star wide receiver is one of the top receiver prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft class. ... and was mong the most popular team interview subjects at the recent NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
During the Combine, all aspects of a player are analyzed. Height and weight and speed and agility ... and yes, the way he handles himself, too.
Teams watch and listen. So do fans, who this week took notice of something during Concepcion's NFL Combine media session - something that is no secret to anybody who knows the Aggies.
He has a speech impediment ... a stutter.
And sadly, in the social-media driven world in which we live, that fact produced a flurry of fan criticism and negativity and cruelty.
Concepcion's response? He posted a message on his Instagram page and shared his thoughts.
"I just wanna say something," Concepcion wrote. "If you have a speech impediment, there is nothing wrong with us. I have had this stutter since I can remember talking. This is a part of me. This is who I am. I cannot control this.
"I wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up, who may be afraid and not confident in yourself. I stand with you. This weekend has taught me a lot about myself and people out here in this world.
"I appreciate everyone who supports me and has reached out to me after these interviews. Don't let an outside person's thoughts, opinions get in the way of you being great, of you achieving something in life.
"I am blessed to be in the position that I am in and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up, who aren't as confident. I stand with you. I will always stand with you.
"We are different for a reason. God has blessed my life in a way I couldn't even imagine in this past year. I love y'all and I support y'all as we climb this mountain together."
Concepcion, who has spoken about being bullied as a child for the stutter issue he shares with his father, signed off his message with a hashtag ...
#stopthenegativity.
This is not just a powerful message; it's also a clever one, as it shows character and wisdom for NFL teams who already view him as a standout football player.
Aggies coach Mike Elko recently said of KC, "He's got a tremendous work ethic. I really enjoy the way he competes day in and day out, that really showed itself in the off-season as well.
"So, there's a maturity about him that I really like. He wants to be great and that shows every day, which is a really cool characteristic in a kid. And I think he's a kid that rises to moments.''
The 5-11 Concepcion played two seasons at North Carolina State before coming to Texas A&M for 2025. He had 61 catches for 919 yards and nine touchdowns last year on the way to establishing that he should be worthy of being a first-round pick, and - yes - a "role model'' once he moves to the NFL.
