Former Texas A&M guard Ruben Dominguez is headed to Xavier after a one-year stint in College Station that featured strong 3-point shooting and 27 starts.
Texas A&M basketball is officially losing another piece from last season’s roster, as Ruben Dominguez has found his next destination in the transfer portal.
The former Aggies guard is headed to Xavier, giving Richard Pitino’s program an experienced perimeter scorer with proven shooting ability and two seasons still available.
Dominguez spent only one year at Texas A&M, but he carved out a significant role almost immediately. The 6-6 guard appeared in 34 games and made 27 starts, averaging 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest.
His biggest value came from the outside, where he connected on 40.0 percent of his 3-point attempts while taking 6.3 threes per game.
That kind of volume and efficiency made him one of the Aggies’ more dependable floor spacers.
Early in the season, Dominguez looked like one of the team’s more consistent offensive threats. He scored in double figures in eight of Texas A&M’s first nine games and later exploded for a career-high 30 points against Manhattan.
As the season wore on, though, his production cooled, and he never fully recaptured that early rhythm.
Still, shooters with his resume are always going to attract interest in the portal. Dominguez arrived in College Station with professional experience overseas, and that maturity showed up in stretches during SEC play.
He gave the Aggies a wing who could stretch defenses and punish mistakes from deep, something every roster values in the modern game.
For Xavier, the move makes sense. The Musketeers are looking to build momentum after going 15-18 in Pitino’s first season, and Dominguez offers an immediate skill that translates.
For Texas A&M, his exit adds to an offseason already shaped by change, with multiple players entering the portal.
Dominguez may not have spent long in Aggieland, but he made a clear impact while he was there.
Now the next chapter sends him to the Big East, where his shooting should give him every chance to be a factor again.
