Texas A&M fans have another reason to keep an eye on the 2026 NFL Draft conversation. Dynamic wide receiver KC Concepcion is already generating first-round buzz, with a recent mock draft projecting the standout Aggie to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In his first 2026 mock draft for NFL.com, analyst Gennaro Filice slotted Concepcion to Pittsburgh, highlighting the playmaking ability and versatility that made him such a weapon in College Station. While mock drafts are projections, not promises, the recognition underscores how highly Concepcion is regarded as the draft cycle begins to take shape.
"New Steelers coach Mike McCarthy wants his old quarterback back in Pittsburgh, and NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero recently reported “the odds are increasing” that Aaron Rodgers returns for a 22nd season," Filice writes. "If that is indeed the plan, the Steelers must supply the 42-year-old with more catch-and-run playmakers... Concepcion’s a quick-twitch separator, but he needs to clean up the drops -- especially if he’s going to be playing with a notoriously demanding quadragenarian."
For the Texas A&M Aggies, Concepcion’s rise has been fueled by production and polish. In his time at A&M, he quickly established himself as one of the most explosive offensive players in the SEC. Whether lining up outside, working out of the slot, or contributing in the return game, he consistently found ways to impact the scoreboard. His quick acceleration, sharp route running, and ability to create yards after the catch made him a quarterback’s best friend and a defensive coordinator’s headache.
Concepcion finished his one and only season with the Aggies with 919 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, the latter of which led the entire SEC. He was also able to get 456 yards and a pair of touchdowns on punt returns as well.
Beyond the X’s and O’s, Concepcion’s draft projection is another testament to Texas A&M’s continued development of NFL-ready talent. Competing week in and week out in the SEC prepared him for the speed and physicality scouts expect to see on Sundays. His growth in College Station showcased not just athletic ability, but refinement — improved timing, stronger hands, and a deeper understanding of coverage.
There is still plenty of time before the 2026 NFL Draft becomes reality, and evaluations will continue to evolve. But early first-round consideration speaks volumes. For Aggie fans, seeing Concepcion’s name tied to a storied NFL franchise is a point of pride — and a reminder that the path from Kyle Field to the professional stage remains strong.
If this projection holds, the Black and Gold in Pittsburgh may soon be welcoming a little Maroon and White star power.
