Quentin Lake likens the sidelined pass rusher to LeBron James, promising a dominant return as the former top pick nears his debut following a lengthy injury recovery.

Myles Garrett has already established himself as one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL, but his Los Angeles Rams teammates believe there is still plenty more for him to show.

One of those teammates is safety Quentin Lake, who recently made a bold comparison while discussing Garrett's abilities and anticipation surrounding his return from injury.

During an appearance on the "St. Brown Podcast," Lake compared the former Texas A&M defensive end to NBA superstar LeBron James, explaining just how different Garrett is from the average NFL player.

"MG is like the LeBron James of football," Lake said. "The way he's built and then the stuff he can do on the field is just wild. And people haven’t even seen it yet. People are like, 'Oh, I don’t know, him coming off injury.' Dude, he's going to tear that s*** up when he comes back. I can’t wait."

The rant was full of expletives, but when you are talking about one of the scariest defenders to ever play the game of football, it is pretty hard to not get at least a little bit dramatic.

The praise comes at an important time for Garrett, who is working his way back from a knee injury that has kept him sidelined for much of the season. Garrett has played just one game for Los Angeles, making his debut against the San Francisco 49ers before landing on injured reserve.

That appearance was far from what Garrett envisioned. He finished without a tackle or sack in 40 defensive snaps, later acknowledging that he was not playing at full strength.

Now, the Rams are hopeful that a healthier version of Garrett can make a significant difference down the stretch.

Garrett's return to practice Wednesday opened a 21-day window for Los Angeles to evaluate his readiness to return to game action. His availability for Sunday's matchup against the Washington Commanders remains uncertain, with head coach Sean McVay taking a cautious approach.

For Texas A&M fans, Garrett's continued reputation as one of football's most physically gifted defensive players is another reminder of what he accomplished in College Station.

He racked up 32.5 sacks, 48.5 tackles for loss, and 145 total tackles in his three seasons at Texas A&M. That ultimately led to the Browns selecting Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after an outstanding career with the Aggies.

Lake's comments reinforce the excitement surrounding Garrett's return. If the former Aggie can get back to his usual level of dominance, the Rams could have an entirely different defensive presence for the remainder of the season.
