The Texas A&M Aggies have an issue at wide receiver, or do they?
Star receiver KC Concepcion has declared for the NFL Draft after leading the Aggies with 61 catches for 919 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
Paired with his counterpart Mario Craver, they combined for 120 catches, 1,836 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Coach Mike Elko was pursuing former Auburn receiver Cam Coleman, but Coleman pledged his commitment to Steve Sarkisian and the hated Texas Longhorns.
What is Plan B now that Coleman is off the table? It has manifested itself in the human form of Isaiah Horton, who committed to the Aggies on Sunday.
Horton is considered the No. 2 receiver in the transfer portal, according to 247 Sports. He posted 42 catches for 511 yards and a team-leading eight receiving touchdowns for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In the Iron Bowl victory over Auburn, Horton hauled in three touchdown passes. In addition, Horton recorded five games with four or more catches. From a size standpoint, Horton’s 6-4 frame will present a matchup advantage against smaller defenders.
Now that the Aggies have a replacement for Concepcion, who else do they have in their talented receiver room who can make plays in the passing game?
With similar height and build as Concepcion, Bethel-Roman was third on the team with 24 catches for 503 yards and five touchdowns. In the 31-30 come-from-behind victory over South Carolina, Bethel-Roman caught four passes for a season-high 139 yards and a touchdown.
Bussey caught 18 passes for 195 yards and a score in 2025. He adds value because of his special-teams skill, recording a combined 483 return yards on punt and kickoff returns.
Both Bethel-Roman and Bussey have talent, but were limited on targets because of the success of Concepcion and Craver. They will be able to show more of what they can do once spring practice starts.
Another thing that will help both Bethel-Roman and Bussey is coaching continuity.
While former offensive coordinator Colin Klein moved on to his alma mater, Kansas State, Holmon Wiggins remains on staff as his replacement in 2026.
Wiggins surely will run a similar offensive scheme that was so successful this past season.
While there will be something of a learning curve for Horton from a scheme perspective, Bethel-Roman and Bussey will be the veterans in this passing attack, along with Craver. The Aggies will field a talented receiving corps once again in 2026.
Elko could not get Coleman to move to College Station, but it was not for the lack of trying. Sometimes, when Plan A fails, you have to go to Plan B.
And that plan's name is Isaiah Horton. Welcome to Aggieland, Isaiah.
