JayQuan Snell says he’s locked in with Texas A&M, canceling Texas and Texas Tech visits as the Aggies’ loaded 2027 class keeps gaining steam.
Texas A&M football just got another recruiting win without adding a new name to the commitment list.
Four-star safety JayQuan Snell, one of the headliners of the Aggies’ No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, has shut down the drama.

The Waxahachie, Texas, standout told On3’s Hayes Fawcett he is “locked in” with Texas A&M and has canceled official visits to Texas and Texas Tech.
That’s a big statement in June, especially with the Longhorns and Red Raiders still pushing for one of the best defensive backs in the country.
Snell has been committed to Texas A&M since Nov. 11, 2025, but elite in-state players rarely stop getting calls from rival programs.
Snell is ranked as the No. 40 overall player, No. 2 safety and No. 7 prospect in Texas in the Rivals industry ranking.
That makes his decision to shut things down a major retention win for Mike Elko and the Texas A&M staff.
His production backs up the hype. Over the past two seasons at Waxahachie High School, Snell has piled up 146 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, 12 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
That’s not just safety production. That’s chaos production.
Texas A&M’s 2027 class now sits at 19 commits and continues to look especially dangerous in the secondary. Snell is joined by Kamarui Dorsey, giving the Aggies commitments from the top two safeties in the country.
Five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry is also in the class, along with three-star athletes Loia Valade and Errol Kerns III, both projected defensive backs.
June has already been scorching for Texas A&M recruiting. Keeping Snell away from Texas and Texas Tech might be one of the loudest wins yet.
