Texas A&M is pushing for 2028 four-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence as Mike Elko keeps attacking Florida recruiting hard.
Texas A&M football is already sitting on the No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, but Mike Elko clearly isn’t waiting around to start swinging in 2028.
The Aggies are now in the mix for four-star quarterback Neimann Lawrence, one of the biggest names in Florida high school football.
Lawrence, a blue-chip passer from American Heritage in Plantation, Fla., has narrowed his recruitment to five finalists: Texas A&M, Texas, Miami, Notre Dame and Michigan.
He’s expected to announce his commitment on June 25.
That’s a heavyweight list, and Texas A&M has work to do. The Longhorns are widely viewed as a major threat, while Miami has the obvious in-state pull.
But Elko has already shown he can walk into loaded recruiting territory and win. After dominating Georgia in the 2026 cycle, Texas A&M has started building serious momentum in Florida.
That push continued this week with commitments from four-star linebacker/defensive end Frederick Ards III and three-star athlete Loia Valade for the 2027 class.
Now Lawrence represents a different kind of prize: a potential cornerstone quarterback.
The numbers explain why everyone wants him.
Lawrence threw for 1,971 yards, 32 touchdowns and just one interception last season, showing off the arm talent, accuracy and ball placement that have helped him collect more than 30 scholarship offers.
Elko offered Lawrence last September, and that early interest could matter. The challenge is getting him to College Station before decision day.
Lawrence has not yet visited Texas A&M, which makes the next few weeks critical.
For the Aggies, this is a chance to prove their recruiting machine isn’t just hot ... it’s dangerous. Landing Lawrence would be a massive 2028 statement and another sign that Elko’s Florida strategy is getting real fast.
