Texas A&M football got a major recruiting boost as 2027 offensive tackle DeMarrion Johnson reaffirmed his pledge and called the Aggies his path to the future.
Texas A&M football recruiting just got another strong reminder that Mike Elko’s staff is building from the line of scrimmage out.
Four-star offensive tackle DeMarrion Johnson, one of the Aggies’ most important 2027 commitments, has made it clear he’s not looking elsewhere, giving Texas A&M another major win as it continues shaping the future of its offensive line.

That matters in a big way for a program that’s trying to reload up front after heavy turnover.
The Aggies lost multiple linemen to the NFL Draft cycle and responded by bringing in proven SEC help through the transfer portal.
But while those additions are critical for 2026, the long-term plan still revolves around blue-chip recruits like Johnson and fellow tackle Kaeden Scott.
Johnson already looks the part of a future cornerstone. At 6-7 and 300 pounds, he has the length, size and movement skills coaches covet in a high-level tackle prospect.
His pass protection stands out early, and that’s a big reason many project him as a future left tackle in College Station. The next step in his development will be becoming more dominant in the run game, especially in an offense expected to ask its linemen to handle a variety of responsibilities.
That projection fits exactly with what Texas A&M wants under offensive line coach Adam Cushing. The Aggies are clearly targeting linemen with NFL upside, and Johnson checks that box.
He’s viewed as one of the top prospects in the state and one of the better offensive tackles in the 2027 class, which only adds to the importance of keeping him locked in.
Johnson recently helped quiet outside chatter by reaffirming his commitment and emphasizing that he already has what he needs at Texas A&M. That kind of confidence is exactly what fans want to hear this far out from signing day.
If Johnson stays on this trajectory, Texas A&M may not just be holding onto a top pledge.
The Aggies could be building around a future anchor on the offensive front, one who helps define the next era of Aggie football in the SEC.
