Texas A&M bolstered its 2026-27 backcourt by adding transfer guard Lukas Walls, a proven 3-point shooter with ties to Bucky McMillan.
Texas A&M basketball added another piece to its 2026-27 roster on Tuesday when head coach Bucky McMillan brought in transfer guard Lukas Walls, a player already familiar with his system and expectations.
The former Radford and Samford standout gives the Aggies more backcourt depth and an efficient perimeter shooter who could fit quickly into McMillan’s style.

Walls arrives in College Station after a solid 2025-26 season at Radford, where he appeared in 32 games and made 26 starts.
The 6-5, 203-pound guard averaged 7.9 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while delivering one of his most valuable traits from the outside.
He knocked down 45.5 percent of his 3-point attempts, hitting 46 of 101 from long range. He also scored in double figures 11 times, including an 18-point performance against Presbyterian in the season finale.
That kind of shooting should immediately grab attention for an Aggies team looking to strengthen its offensive versatility.
Walls isn’t just a scorer, either. His experience in multiple systems and his size on the wing could make him a useful rotation piece on both ends of the floor.
There’s also a natural connection here. Before transferring to Radford, Walls spent two seasons at Samford, where he played under McMillan.
As a sophomore, he averaged 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds across 33 games while helping Samford finish 22-11 and reach the NIT.
As a freshman, he was part of a 29-6 squad that captured both the SoCon regular-season and tournament championships and earned an NCAA Tournament berth.
For Texas A&M, this move looks like more than a simple roster addition. It’s a targeted pickup of a player McMillan already knows, trusts, and believes can help right away.
If Walls’ shooting carries over to the SEC, the Aggies may have found a valuable transfer portal win.
