Texas A&M baseball has stumbled late, but the Aggies still have a strong NCAA Tournament resume entering Mississippi State weekend.

Texas A&M baseball enters its final regular-season SEC series with plenty at stake, but the bigger picture still looks strong for the Aggies.

No. 10 Texas A&M is 37-12 overall and 16-10 in SEC play after dropping back-to-back conference series against Auburn and Ole Miss.

That’s not the finish coach Mike Earley wanted heading into the postseason, especially with No. 13 Mississippi State coming to College Station for a Thursday night series opener.

But even after losing four of their last seven games, the Aggies remain firmly in the national seed conversation for the NCAA Tournament.

The reason is simple: Texas A&M’s resume still carries real weight. The Aggies have stacked double-digit Quad 1 wins, avoided being swept in SEC play and have held their ground against one of college baseball’s toughest schedules.

That’s why D1Baseball’s latest NCAA Tournament projection still has Texas A&M as the No. 8 national seed, hosting a College Station Regional with Cincinnati, UTSA and Binghamton.

Other projections aren’t quite as bullish. USA TODAY Sports has Texas A&M closer to the edge of the top 10, projecting the Aggies as the No. 11 seed.

That gap shows how important this Mississippi State series could be before the SEC Tournament.

Health is another major storyline. Freshman infielders Boston Kellner and Nico Partida have both missed time, leaving Texas A&M shorthanded during a critical stretch. Earley said Monday that Kellner could return this weekend if there are no setbacks, while Partida’s status remains uncertain.

If the Aggies take care of business against Mississippi State, they could climb even higher before Selection Sunday.

A series win would calm concerns, boost their hosting profile and remind the committee that Texas A&M still looks like one of the most dangerous teams in college baseball.
