Texas A&M baseball built a huge lead, survived a late Missouri comeback, and opened the SEC series with an 11-9 win behind Jorian Wilson and Caden Sorrell.
Texas A&M baseball grabbed a big SEC road win Friday night, but it didn’t come easy.
The No. 25 Aggies held off a furious Missouri comeback to claim an 11-9 victory in Columbia, improving to 20-5 and giving head coach Michael Earley his 50th win at Texas A&M.
For most of the night, the Aggies looked in complete control. Texas A&M mixed power, patience, and pressure on the bases to put Missouri on its heels early.
The offense finished with eight hits, drew 11 walks, and swiped six bases, creating the kind of constant traffic that can wear down any pitching staff.
Jorian Wilson turned in one of the best games of his career, going 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs.
Caden Sorrell also came up huge, launching a three-run homer and finishing with three RBIs, two runs scored, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch. Chris Hacopian kept things moving as well, reaching base four times with a double, three walks, and an RBI.
The turning point came in a monster fourth inning. Texas A&M exploded for seven runs, with Wilson and Sorrell delivering the loudest swings.
By the time Terrence Kiel II added a two-run single in the fifth, the Aggies were sitting on a 10-1 lead and looked ready to cruise.
Then everything tightened up.
Missouri stormed back with a six-run fifth inning and kept chipping away until the Tigers had cut the deficit to 10-9 by the seventh. Suddenly, a game that felt over had real late-inning drama.
That’s where Clayton Freshcorn made sure Texas A&M baseball escaped.
The right-hander shut down Missouri over the final two innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three to earn his sixth save of the season. The Aggies also picked up an important insurance run in the ninth.
It wasn’t clean, but it was valuable. In SEC play, style points don’t matter much. Texas A&M got the win, and that’s what counts most.
