Texas A&M’s No. 1 recruiting class could grow even stronger as five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson trends toward the Aggies.
Texas A&M football already owns the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, and Mike Elko’s Aggies may be closing in on another massive win.
Five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, one of the top players in the 2027 recruiting class, is now being projected to Texas A&M by Rivals recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong.
That’s a notable shift, especially after LSU had previously been viewed as a major threat in Dobson’s recruitment.
Dobson is a premier defensive back from Cornelius, North Carolina, and he’s ranked as the No. 9 overall prospect, No. 3 cornerback and No. 1 player in North Carolina in the Rivals industry rankings.
He’s exactly the kind of high-end talent Texas A&M has been stacking under Elko.
The Aggies have been heavily involved for months. Texas A&M offered Dobson in September 2024, and he’s already made multiple trips to College Station.
His next major visit is scheduled for June 5, when the Aggies will get another chance to make their strongest closing pitch.
That visit could be huge.
Texas A&M is battling LSU, Michigan, Auburn and South Carolina for Dobson, but momentum appears to be leaning toward College Station. If the Aggies land him, their defensive back haul could become one of the best in the nation.
Texas A&M already has commitments from five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey and five-star cornerback Raylan Henry. Adding Dobson would give Elko another blue-chip piece in a secondary class loaded with star power.
The Aggies currently have 13 commitments, including four five-star prospects. They’re also strongly positioned for five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, the nation’s top offensive tackle.
Texas A&M isn’t just building a strong 2027 class. It’s building a monster.
