Texas A&M is targeting Duquesne transfer Jimmie Williams as Bucky McMillan builds around PJ Haggerty and reshapes the Aggies roster.
Texas A&M basketball is moving quickly in the transfer portal, and Jimmie Williams has emerged as one of the key names to watch as Bucky McMillan reshapes the Aggies’ roster for 2026-27.
After landing former Kansas State guard PJ Haggerty, Texas A&M now appears focused on surrounding its new star with more proven production, and Williams would check a lot of boxes.
The former Duquesne guard brings size, scoring punch and the kind of downhill ability that fits naturally in McMillan’s up-tempo system.
With the transfer portal closing April 21, the Aggies don’t have much time to finalize the rest of the roster, making every target even more important.
Williams is coming off a strong season in which he averaged 15.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the field.
He also hit 33 percent from 3-point range and knocked down 75 percent of his free throws, giving Texas A&M a versatile offensive option who can create his own shot and finish efficiently inside.
At 6-5 and 210 pounds, he’d also add much-needed size to the Aggies’ backcourt.
Adding a bigger, physical guard like Williams could help Texas A&M avoid some of those same matchup issues while also giving Haggerty more support.
Haggerty, who averaged nearly 24 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor last season, is clearly the centerpiece of the Aggies’ portal rebuild, but he can’t do it alone.
Texas A&M is still waiting on clarity regarding Marcus Hill’s waiver situation, and McMillan likely needs multiple impact additions to keep the Aggies in position for a fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Williams may not be the final move, but he looks like exactly the type of transfer target Texas A&M should be chasing right now.
