Texas A&M football recruiting gets a major boost as five-star 2027 offensive tackle Mark Matthews heads to College Station for a key spring visit.

Texas A&M football recruiting is about to get a serious spotlight, and this weekend’s visitor list is a big reason why.

As spring practice opens in College Station, Mike Elko and his staff will welcome one of the nation’s premier 2027 prospects in five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, a massive recruiting target who’s quickly becoming one of the most watched names on the Aggies’ board.

That’s not small-time buzz. Matthews is viewed as one of the elite players in the entire 2027 class, and Texas A&M is clearly pushing to make itself more than just a hat on the table.

The Aggies have stayed active with Matthews for months, and now they’ll get another chance to make their pitch in person.

Texas A&M is entering a crucial stretch as Elko continues shaping the future of the program, and landing traction with a player like Matthews would be a loud signal that the Aggies are still swinging with the biggest brands in the sport.

Miami, Georgia, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Tennessee are all firmly in the picture, which means this isn’t a casual visit. It’s a fight.

Matthews looks exactly like the kind of prospect programs build around. At 6-6 and more than 300 pounds, he already has the frame college coaches dream about, but it’s his movement skills that make him especially dangerous.

His basketball background shows up in the way he carries his size, and that athleticism has helped fuel projections that he could develop into an elite pass protector and eventually an NFL-caliber tackle.

Texas A&M also has momentum on the recruiting trail with other major 2027 names expected around spring ball, including five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis.

But Matthews is the headliner this weekend, and for good reason. He’s ranked as the No. 5 overall player in the country, the No. 1 offensive tackle, and the top prospect in Florida.

The Aggies haven’t closed anything yet, but this visit is more than a courtesy stop. Texas A&M football recruiting is very much in the hunt, and if this weekend goes well, the Aggies could be setting up a much bigger move soon.
